Committed to the Art and Practice of Massage

After years of enjoying the benefits of massage, I enrolled at the oldest and one of the best schools in the U.S. to learn the art and practice of massage therapy. Working full-time at my day job and going to school nights and weekends only strengthened my commitment to holistic care. New York State has the most rigorous training requirements in the country. Plus therapists must pass a grueling 4 hour exam to be licensed and we are held to the same standards as other medical professionals such as are physicians, nurses, and physical therapists.

As a baby-boomer, I know the importance of staying fit and active. Chronic pain caused by muscle injuries limit mobility. Chronic stress caused by living in a stressful world contributes to the chronic pain cycle. Massage has been proven to break the cycle to allow tissue to heal.  In fact evidenced-based research studies on the benefits of massage are being published at an ever-increasing rate as the public demands noninvasive therapeutic alternatives and health care providers focus on prevention to reduce health care costs. I experience the healing power of massage everyday in my practice and am very thankful to work in the alternative care field.
